Contemplation of the nature of interpretation leads to the conviction that it is a firmly rooted quality in the human mind, which humans rely on in their persistent pursuit to understand the various meanings that are hidden in existence and revealed through the interaction between human beings and the world. If we need to define interpretation, as we intend to do in the pages of this book, we find that the approach taken by various interpretive schools, which we will explore here, both old and new, contemporary, is geared towards uncovering the meaning that serves as a mediator between human beings and existence. This book outlines the interpretive path that has been constructed since its inception until today, based on the relationship between human beings and existence, which has manifested in many diverse and multiple historical forms, of which language remains the most expressive, articulate, and magnificent.
