Money is important because it gives us a sense of freedom—the freedom to get what we want. However, money does not grant us kindness, beauty, intelligence, strength, a lovely voice, or the ability to run faster. Rather, it is a tool for exercising freedom, allowing us to buy whatever we desire. Money gives us the freedom of “acquiring.” A car gives us the freedom to move, but that does not mean the car itself is what is important. What matters is what it allows us to do—move. Likewise, money itself is not what is important; what matters is what it enables us to obtain.
