Fujairah International Philosophy Conference
Fourth Edition
21- 23.11.2024

Philosophy Celebrates Its World Day with Lights Shining from Fujairah
Since its founding, the House of Philosophy has been keen to hold a conference that coincides with World Philosophy Day, declared by UNESCO on the third Thursday of November each year. Thus, it has become one of its constant traditions.
What UNESCO achieved by declaring a World Philosophy Day was in fact a celebration of reason in all its forms, and everything it entails: the pursuit of truth, humanity, and beauty, as well as the values of tolerance, prosperity, and shared living.

Information About the Fourth Conference
Since the dawn of consciousness, reason has carved its way to understanding reality in all its details, without abandoning the spirit of awareness and the spirit of criticism. It was criticism that invented the right question and sought answers to those intertwined with the correct question, for one cannot separate the spirit of the question from the spirit of criticism.
Criticism thus represents a path to transcend awareness—towards new awareness that matches the seriousness of reality and its complexities. Therefore, the House of Philosophy Conference has made philosophical criticism its theme this year, to add a new statement to philosophical discourse and philosophical dialogue. Philosophical criticism has taken many forms throughout history, from uncovering the meaning of philosophical texts, to linking them to reality, passing through criticism of philosophical discourse itself, and finally criticizing philosophy by philosophy itself.
Philosophical criticism always aims at uncovering what is possible, as it seeks to fulfill the truth.
