There is no doubt that thought, when it reaches its peak, transforms into metaphysics. This is because metaphysics represents bold thinking that may become reckless, falling into the deceptive fog of the unseen. Yet it quickly rises to realize that all knowledge is incomplete and all endeavors are powerless, and that thought is perpetually alive, continually taking steps to address its deeper deficiency of being. Metaphysics is the spirit of thought liberated from the ties of apparent observation. However, it cannot transform into a science among the sciences. Its only benefit is that when it delineates for us the boundaries of the world, consciousness, and knowledge, it frees us from all harmful dogmatic beliefs, from all detrimental interiority biases, and from all obstructive intellectual alienation. Philosophy needs metaphysics to constantly remind itself that its concepts, structures, edifices, and systems, no matter how exalted and brilliant, cannot grasp the secret of being. No knowledge can justify, in and of itself, an absolute epistemological foundation. In this case, it is not surprising that metaphysics today takes the form of forward-looking sciences, qualitative logic, and foundational epistemology.
