The subject of this book is the mind. However, it does not address the mind in relation to transmission (revelation) or ideology or history, i.e., it does not consider the rationality that can be culturally utilized and ideologically exploited. It does not also pertain to the “practical mind,” the “impulsive soul,” or the practical actions connected to the city, such as ethics and politics. It is not the mind viewed primarily from the perspective of “epistemology” or “proof theory,” which observes the process of acquiring knowledge with its various components, tools, mechanisms, and outcomes. Rather, the primary focus of this book is the mind that falls under “the study of the mind” (Noetic), which is a part of ancient psychology. This includes, alongside the theory or study or category on the mind, various other studies and categories, including studies on the senses, imagination, knowledge, will, and impulsion.
