Ibn Ṭufayl (1109/10 – 1185/86 AD) was the first to invent the art of philosophical fiction, and he is the author of the book Hayy Ibn Yaqẓan, in which he demonstrated that humans can inherently understand nature and through it arrive at rational thinking.
