Ibn Bajjah was an Andalusian philosopher born in 487 AH / 1080 AD in Zaragoza, located in northeastern Spain today. He spent the last twenty years of his life as a minister and physician in the Almoravid state, authoring twenty eight books, most of which were in the fields of astronomy, medicine, mathematics, literature, and music. However, his most famous work in philosophy is The Rule of the Solitary, which is considered a dense collection of ideas where Ibn Bajjah excellently explains his philosophy.
