To know whether what we are doing is bad, we do not need anyone to see us, punish us, catch us, put us on trial, or condemn us, nor do we need to read about it in a book or hear others talk about it. To determine if our actions are bad, we can simply ask ourselves whether we would like others to do the same to us.
