Since the inception of philosophy, the problem of evil has been one of its major and enduring issues. It will remain a problem as long as humanity exists on this earth. In fact, one of the most significant contributions of philosophy, from the Greek era to the present day, has been to make evil the center of philosophical thought. If the problem of evil finds its roots in the Greek period, what is it that keeps it present even now? What compels philosophers to be possessed with the haunting issue of evil? Philosophy, in its task of making evil its subject, seeks to understand why there is all these evils within human existence.
